MASTER'S EXAM AND GRADUATION


Completion requirements

The program concludes with a master's committee examination, which consists of two parts:

1. Artistic part

  • Musical presentation corresponding to the chosen artistic module (Popular Music, Music Making in Social Contexts, Traditional Musics).

Prerequisite for taking the artistic master's examination: positive completion of the "Artistic Competencies" study area

2. Scientific part

  • Presentation and discussion of the master's thesis
  • Oral examination, in which the topic of the master's thesis is placed in a larger social sciences context.

Prerequisite for taking the scientific master's examination: positive completion of all study areas and approval of the master's thesis

 

The MUSIC IN SOCIETY degree program culminates with the academic title Master of Arts.

Graduates possess a profound knowledge of the structures, institutions and functions of the music and cultural industries and the actions of their participants. They can work in these industries in various academic and administrative positions and are also qualified for further PhD studies, especially in the sociology of music, art and culture, as well as gender studies, cultural studies and cultural institution studies.
