Lis Vovka completed their Bachelor's degree in Music and Dance Studies at the University of Salzburg and is currently pursuing a Master's in Musicology at the University of Vienna, with a focus on the sociology of music. Her Master's thesis explores queer-feminist safe(r) spaces within Vienna’s club culture. The qualitative research centers on access barriers to these spaces, strategies for creating them - such as awareness practices - as well as the interrelations between music, spatial production, and (in)security.
Lis’s academic interests include queer-feminist electronic dance music scenes and the (re)production of social inequalities within these contexts.
Outside academia, Lis volunteers in the support of refugee girls.
